How to Advertise in Real Estate
After acquiring all the relevant information and taking all the necessary pictures during the inspection, as 1st inspections matter, it’s time to roll your sleeves and get down to work. Spread the word out and advertise about your listing. So, how and where do you start advertising?
In the past, real estate agents could only advertise the traditional way which was the conventional way back then. The most direct and straightforward way to advertise was to advertise on-site – hang a FOR SALE and/or FOR RENT banner at the property. Prospective buyers and tenants passing by the house can then contact the agent to enquire about the said property.

To widen the reach of the advertisement is to distribute flyers in the neighbourhood itself and the neighbouring neighbourhoods. Soon, the neighbours will recommend their friends and family who want to move into the same neighbourhood or nearby.

Then to further widen the scope of advertisement on a national level is to advertise in the newspaper. Enquiries can come from as near as a nearby district or from as far as from another state.

In recent years, with the help of the internet, advertising has taken a whole different approach. The above advertisement channels by way of banner, flyers, and newspaper classifieds; are now known as offline advertising. Advertising through the internet is known as online advertising.
There are websites dedicated solely for and about property, also known as property portals. Real estate agents can advertise their listings on the property portals. The common and widely-used property portals are Iproperty, Propertyguru, Propwall, Propsocial, PropertyCircles, The Edge Property, etc.

Listings can also be advertised on social media sites (SNS). Some common examples of social media sites are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, TikTok, WordPress, Blogspot, etc. Friends, family, and followers will like, comment, and share the advertisements to their own friends, family, and followers.

Here it’s just a brief introduction to advertising – ADVERTISING 101. In the following posts we’ll go further in-depth, and compare the pros and cons of online advertising and offline advertising.
